Fellowship Selection Process
Applying is Easy
Through our competitive application process SEN will select leaders with the vision for new schools designed to provide a high quality education to NYC’s underserved students. We are looking for experienced educators with a dynamic combination of instructional and personal leadership skills, and the entrepreneurial spirit required to create a new organization.
School Empowerment Network reviews candidates based on a rolling selection process that involves multiple stages and evaluates candidates using SEN’s Leadership Competencies.
Please read all directions below before beginning the application.
A. Online Application
The online profile includes brief questions which are answered directly within our online application. It includes questions about the applicant’s basic contact information, education, certifications and current role.
Within the online profile, applicants will be prompted to upload a resume. Applicants must upload resumes as a single PDF/Word document when completing the online application (Filename should be as follows: first.lastname.Resume)
Resume must indicate:
- Title and dates (month and year) of employment for each position listed.
- Names of the schools in which applicant has worked and title(s) or position(s) in each. If applicant has held more than 1 position in a school, please list them chronologically.
- Years, subject(s) and grade level(s) for each teaching position.
C. Extended Response
The Extended Response section in the online application is an opportunity to share more about a candidate’s instructional experiences and potential leadership abilities. Responses to prompts should be rooted in experience and include specific examples.
D. School Vision
The School Vision is an opportunity for you to describe the proposed new school you would like to lead in a clear and concrete way. As you craft your response, it may be helpful to reference SEN’s Leadership Competencies. Candidates that progress in the SEN process will continue to refine their school vision and to develop plans to realize that vision.
